Darren Bailey How about an Electoral College by State that is first By County so that all the residents voices are heard NOT just those in the Major Cities Governing over the whole State 🤔... As is, this whole state could vote one direction and then the next day those votes North of I- 80 override the whole state. Literally - 88 Red Counties are Governed by what 14 Blue Counties decide !
I’ve always said we need an electoral college in Illinois I live on the southern tip of the state & it seems like our votes down here don’t count. Chicago pretty much rules the whole state
The only way Illinois would actually represent anything beyond Chicago would be if it had an electoral college for the process of electing governor. Without an electoral college, the state is doomed to be dragged down the toilet that is shitcago.

I have said the same thing Darren Bailey. The recent election was a perfect example. Illinois was red except for Chicagoland and a couple other counties. Maybe only one county south of Springfield. If every county had one electorial vote. Donald Trump wins in a landslide.
No way does this amendment need to come to a vote this is a democrat deal to ensure that Chicago continues to run this state . This democrat needs gone he has been in office way to long. You republicans need to steep up to the plate and get this changed.

Our founders were brilliant, the electoral college gives voice to the less populated states and keeps us from being ruled by urban areas. Even more critical now than the 18th century. If only we had a similar system in Illinois.
Why would an Illinois senator propose this. If any state understands the need for an electoral college, it’s Illinois. Otherwise the country would be run by the Chicago’s of the country like Illinois is now.
How about we abolish Durbin. He's useless.

America is a constitutional republic, we were NEVER setup to be a pure democracy. The US Constitution gives us a representative democracy which is far different from a pure democracy. The “Electoral College” serves two important purposes: (1) It balances the influence of the heavily populated urban areas with the more sparsely populated rural areas; and (2) gives the smaller States a voice in the election of President. It was the small states that insisted upon the electoral college. The Electoral College is necessary because it allows representation to follow population (just like in determining the number reps from each state) and grant necessary equity between the states. The reason the framers were so opposed to a complete democratic vote for president because history showed the small states it would give them lawlessness and oppression. Remember the US Constitution didn't dissolve the states and the states by way of the electoral college chooses the president because we are the United STATES of America. The people of America are not one nation, the 50 states are one nation. The left is always saying we have a democracy, it is to deceive the people into believing the people should have the complete democratic right for the people to choose the president instead of the electoral college; hiding the fact the law of the US Constitution gives us only a representative democracy. Dick Durbin is our traitorous enemy! Hey butthead Durbin, the electoral college is as democratic as the U.S. Senate, or do you think popular vote should override congress too??? Durbin needs a verbal beatdown from every state on his proposed amendment.
I think there needs to be term limits
As republican’s we need to look at the party for the state. It is in disorder and weak. We need a viable strong candidate for governor that would be able to cross party lines. Plus we need to get rid of Dick and others.
💯 federal elections SHOULD be determined by popular vote, and big cities should be city states. The electoral college was established because the government felt normal, every day people in places like Appalachia were too stupid to vote for themselves. And anyone who thinks that the electoral college gives smaller populous states an equal say… Alaska has less electoral votes than Hawaii. Alaska has a population of 733,406 and 3 electors. Hawaii has a population of 1.4mill and 4 electors. The electrical college doesn’t give less populous states and even vote. If that were so each state would have one elector. Also, big cities need to become city states and stop making decisions for the whole state where life is lived completely different. We definitely need a whole government overhaul, and that most definitely starts at state level!
